True Key Winter Getaways
Adventurous Snow Getaways The Whole Family Will Love
Get ready to satisfy your snow craving! For the winter sport junkee, there’s nothing better than hitting the slopes and taking in the panoramic views, inhaling crisp mountain air, and feeling lush powder beneath your boots.
Harrison…the land of the Sasquatch
While staying at the Harrison Beach Hotel, immerse yourself in ‘all things Sasquatch’ by making your way up to Sasquatch Mountain Resort. Only a 50-minute drive from the village of Harrison Hot Springs, Sasquatch Mountain is a great family ski hill, offering alpine skiing and gentler slopes. You’ll be carving perfect turns and improving your freestyle snowboarding skills in no time. Now add snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and tubing! For après ski bites, try Molly Hogan’s Pub or head back towards Harrison and stop by the Sasquatch Pub. Of course, a hot springs soak is the only way to end the day in Harrison’s natural hot springs pools. Before you head home, check out the Sasquatch Museum at the Visitor Centre—proof the mythical creature exists!
Vancouver Island…mountain slopes and ocean walks
We tend to think beaches and ocean, when we think of Vancouver Island, completely forgetting about the Island’s skiing and snowboarding scene. Mt. Washington is only an hour’s drive from Parksville. which is home to Sunrise Ridge! From oceanside side views at Sunrise to pristine mountain views at Mt. Washington, the region offers it all. If you’re seeking adventure and thrill, you’ll find over 1,600 acres of runs with 400 acres of advanced terrain, guaranteeing compatibility for all skiing levels. The kids will love you and mom and dad won’t be spending the day on the Bunny Trail. If you’re into snow-shoeing, the cross-country trails are some of the best in Canada. A quick drive home to Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort brings you back to a designer kitchen, fireplace, and hot tub time.
Kootenays…BC’s Mountain Playground
Come out and play, the next time you’re in the Columbia Valley where you’ll find some of the world’s best snowboarding and skiing. Six ski hills are conveniently located within an hour’s drive of Bighorn Meadows Resort with the closest being Panorama Mountain. Panorama has 2975 acres of terrain, accommodating all abilities, 129 trails, 10 ski lifts, the longest run of 6.5km in Taynton Bowl, a vertical drop of 4265 ft, and is open until mid-April. In fact, Panorama was voted Top 10 in North America! You could ski a different mountain every day! If you’re in the mood for ‘more relaxed’, try snowmobiling at Toby Creek Adventures where you can choose from a range of tours. On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for adrenaline-pumping, head to Kicking Horse where you will be surrounded by the most stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. You can experience everything from smooth and gentle to steep and gnarly. At the end of the day, return to a cozy suite, sit fireside with a glass of wine, soak in Bighorn’s hot tubs or head to Radium’s outdoor hot spring pools!
With Family Day around the corner on February 18th, there is still time to book your winter getaway and one of our True Key representatives would be happy to arrange your next winter adventure!.
