Kick-Off Summer with a True Key Adventure!

Whether you are bringing family or friends or planning a staycation for yourself, we have a list of fun-filled activities for you. Get ready to explore caves, be on the water, lounge oceanside, and indulge in local food.

Parksville

With patio season finally here, consider a weekend getaway in sunny Parksville. Explore 19+ kms of sandy shoreline and feel the tingle of warm ocean breezes right from your backyard at Sunrise Ridge.

Renowned as the place to find goats grazing on the roof, and only a 10-minute drive from Parksville, be sure to include a visit to Coombs Old Country Market. Then head to Horne Lake Caves and take a guided underground caving tour, to discover crystal formations and ancient fossils. From mild to wild, Horne Lake Caves has a variety of tours to choose from! Then comes the food scene. Let the kids roam about at Morningstar Farm — home to Little Qualicum Cheeseworks and Mooberry Winery — where they have everything from a petting zoo to milk-on-tap. Bring back fresh artisan cheese and wines, to enjoy on your patio, as you watch the sun set the sky ablaze.

Sooke

Although Sooke is known for being an angler’s dream, showcasing those ‘reeling in the big one’ moments, it is also a wonderful destination to take in Vancouver Island’s endless panoramic views.

Within steps of your front-door at Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina, you’re invited to embark on some of the most scenic sea kayaking on the West Coast with West Coast Outdoor Adventure. While spotting a whale is possible, finding adorable seals is almost guaranteed. In fact, they may even swim up to your kayak to say ‘hello’! If you prefer land, ask about biking the famous 56 km “Galloping Goose” converted railway trail! The area is surrounded by beautiful beaches, providing thousands of picturesque spots for your next picnic.

For an elevated experience in oceanside luxury, SookePoint Ocean Cottage Resort is the answer. SookePoint’s luxurious suites are perched cliffside and come, fully-equipped, in 1 and 2-bedroom layouts.

Radium Hot Springs

At Radium Hot Springs, you’ll experience both adventure and relaxation in the mountains. To get your adrenaline going, soar through the skies with Valley Zipline Adventures, ATV with Toby Creek Adventures, and glide the winding white-water rapids with Kootenay River Runners. At the end of the day, return to your ‘home away from home’ at Bighorn Meadows Resort. BBQ up your favourite bites and enjoy the peace and quiet as you hear only nature speak.

Harrison Hot Springs

Only 1.5 hours from Vancouver, Harrison is a Lower Mainland favourite. Jump and slide at Harrison’s Floating Waterpark, parasail, or zip around on sea-doos and bumper boats .  Harrison Village is quaint and small — everything is within walking distance.

The Harrison River feeds the Agassiz-Harrison region creating an environment to grow unique crops. Drive or bike out and explore Harrison’s Circle Farm Tour while learning about the history of the community. The Agassiz Farms Cycle Tour is on July 20th. Harrison’s summer evenings invite you to soak at the public hot springs pools or enjoy a walk along Harrison Lake’s promenade. Located in the heart of the Village is Harrison Beach Hotel, bringing convenience, comfort, and the best patio views.
